Cultural Programs

ATTA has organized numerous cultural functions over the years including putting plays, arranging songfests and inviting guest artists and speakers. Visitors to ATTA include Professors Rafail Hakim, Uli Schamiloglu, Gulnara Khasanova, Rosa Ayupova, Robert Nigmatulin, artists Rafail Ilyasi, Gulzade, Rustem Veli, Georgy Ibushev, Rezide Galimova, Kiram Sitaev and the State String Quartet of Tatarstan.

Recent functions organized by ATTA's Cultural Committee include programs dedicated to (1) 1000 Year Anniversary of Kazan, (2) Tatar Composers and their Music, (3) Tatar Festivals and Traditions, (4) The Role and Destiny of Tatar Women and (5) Gabdullah Tukay, preeminent Tatar Author and Poet. All of these programs were intended to be educational, interesting and fun by combining presentations in a lecture format combined with songs recited by the "AY BILBILIM" song group.

Cultural committee also sponsored presentations by visiting Volunteer Teaching Aides (VTA) from Kazan, Ms. Landysh Ibragimova, Margarita Barabanova, Nazligol Gabdurrahmanova and Gulnara Mingalimova. These young ladies not only supported the teachers at Tatar Sunday School for children but also prepared presentations for the adult members of the community. Topics presented include Tatar History, Tatar Customs and Tradition, Famous Tatars, etc.
